Instead of admiring handbags I don’t have but want, I’m shifting toward appreciating the bags in my current collection. The star of my first post will be this LV Vavin Wallet on Chain. It’s my only LV (I bought this during the worst of my shopping addiction), which makes this one all the more special to me.

I bought this around February 2023 as an early 29th birthday gift to myself. The black Empreinte leather is just gorgeous! And it’s so buttery soft, too. I imagine it’ll soften up even more with time.
Even now, 2 years on, there’s no discernible wear and tear on it – there’s no scuffing on the corners and edges, wrinkles, or staining. There are a few scratches on the clasp, but they’re barely noticeable and I think they add character since the scratches are just signs of use.
I try to use it as often as I can for dinners and casual errands to justify the purchase. I’ll just slip some cash in the flat pocket and my phone, cardholder, and keys in the main pocket. It’s not wide enough to fit my bi-fold wallet, but it’s already a wallet anyway.
I brought it along for my KL trip, and carried a powerbank in it too. The caveat is that while it’s roomier than some other wallets on chains, once it gets too heavy, the chain strap (as opposed to a wide leather strap) will dig into your shoulder. The pressure is tolerable for brief periods of time but not if you’re gonna be on your feet for hours.
I don’t really wear it crossbody or full length anymore (old picture below) because it keeps hitting my hips as I walk, so I normally just loop the chain once under each side of the flap and carry it as a shoulder bag instead. It looks really classy like that too!
Since it’s a WOC that can instantly elevate any outfit, I have no problem wearing it with something like joggers and a t-shirt, either. Now that I’m older, I believe anything can be an occasion, even if it’s just heading out to get a coffee on Sunday morning or going for a manicure.
