July Nail Refresh

After about three weeks my nail situation was really starting to get out of hand (lol), so I scheduled an appointment last weekend to get a fresh new set. This time, I just chose a French mani with red tips in lieu of the usual white ones and requested for crystals, because I need my bling. At least with a nude base, the re-growth won’t look as jarring this time.

These were my nails from my previous set. I was just itching to get back to playing my instruments, so I cut the nails on my fingering hand about one week after getting them done. #stringplayerproblems

I got soft gel extensions, and three days later the tip of the thumbnail extension split, causing the gel polish to lift as well. I recall once watching my old nail tech quite cleverly peel apart the layers of a 2-ply tissue cutout in an almost surgical manner and cure one ply over a chip in my nail. I was doubtful at first, but if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would never have known after she was done that there was a chip in the nail and that tissue paper had been used as reinforcement. I figured my current nail tech would be able to achieve similar results with a mere hairline crack, but when I returned, she argued that it wouldn’t work with soft gels. I’m not a nail expert, so I didn’t argue and just let her clip off the cracked part of the nail feeling mildly disappointed that I’d lose a bit of length on the affected nail.

What have I been up to lately? Off the top of my head, I watched The Sheep Detectives. It was quite a late showing, so aside from myself there was only one family in the theatre. I was glad for that, because by the end of it there were tears full on streaming down my face. I decided to sit there and wait for them to leave before wiping my face, haha. I’ve been thinking of watching Toy Story 5 (?), but I haven’t found time just yet.

I’m still debating whether to get one of these cute plushies or not, because I’m trying to curb my impulse purchases, but on the other hand….these bees have smiley faces and flower crowns…..

Look at these cute ceramic bunnies at the local gardening supplies store. If you see me going in with a normal-sized bag and then leaving with a giant, heavy, bulging bag, no you didn’t. (in the 0.00001% chance that the store somehow sees this…I’m joking)

I just want to share this interesting tenderloin pizza I tried the other day. It’s the first time I’ve ever had tenderloin toppings. I feel bougie. I wish my July were more interesting, but I’m too tired to go out on any adventures. I try to go for walks after work in the park, because I need nature, but so far I’ve only been going like once every week or two weeks…sigh. Anyway, aside from trying to incentivise myself to go for walks more often, I think I’ll just focus on grinding and just keeping my head down at the moment so that my next upcoming vacation will be all the sweeter.
